The computer music course is designed to introduce the student to the subjects useful for managing and producing music and related services to musical productions in a digital and modern way.
Music computing is an emerging interdisciplinary research sector that deals with the production, distribution, consumption, and analysis of music through technology (in particular in digital format).
Music computing, in research mode, includes musical technologies such as peer-to-peer application, digital audio editors, online music search engines, and music information retrieval; cognitive, social, economic, and music problems; as well as improvisation and music performance.
It studies this range of topics not only to improve music research and design systems but to develop a fundamental understanding of the nature of music and its associated behaviors related to quality of life. Music computing is an emerging discipline, being a very dynamic area of research with many different points of view, whose future is still to be determined.
